The character in your craft

From the humble beginnings of the Bairds brothers enterprise back in 1823, the passion and quality in our craft continues to be found today in the character of our employees, and those who we are entrusted to work alongside.

From our 5 malting locations throughout the UK, we are privileged to work alongside some of the finest barley growers in the country. From the Highlands of Scotland through to the heart of England’s Southern Counties and throughout the eastern seaboard of the United Kingdom, we are grateful to have shared our decades of malting craft with the custodians of those fields, many of who have been growing quality malting barley to supply to Bairds for multiple generations.

Throughout our history we have always valued building lasting relationships. As we have become neighbours with generations of farming families, we have also always believed in developing our staff to become the master craftsmen that the finest of malts demands.

Many of our staff have worked with us for decades, learning and cultivating the skills required to ensure that every malting process we work through is not just a process, but a craft in itself.

When we’re not wandering fields of barley at harvest, you’ll find us walking streets of malt. This is a lifestyle that allows us to guide the seed from grain to glass.

We ensure that the care of our malting barley growers, and the character of our master maltsters will always be found in the malt used in your final stage of the craft.
